Modeling and Forecasting Atmospheric Concentrations of NOx using Satellite data

C.S. Track: AI

Mentor: Ramesh Natarajan

Members: Ori Bach, Aaron Poulad, Elchonon Stein

The problem we are interested in is monitoring, modeling and forecasting atmospheric NOx concentrations, which have strong localized effects in space and time, and are primarily due to anthropogenic activity involving fossil fuel combustion due to transportation, power generation and industrial activity. As such, NOx concentrations are important for pollution studies (e.g. smog), but also as a proxy for the more hard-to-measure CO2 emissions which is the primary GHG responsible for long-term global warming.
